At this moment in time with the release of the new "Call of duty- Black Ops" all i can hear at present is the sound of gunfire and shouting in the distance coming from my younger brothers room.

Telling him he spends too long on the game doesnt work so i thought i would put it in a more visual way for him to see. On a quick break to go to the toilet i got him to pose for me in a way that would look like he was jumping out of a television set, looking at me quite weirdly he agreed.
I then took a photgraph of the television in the lounge and loaded them both into photoshop.

Photoshop experiments

Quick sketches using photoshop. I used first hand images of people and photographs and then drew on top of them with the brush tool but didnt take my finger of the mouse so that the figures were drawn in a continous motion. I then took the phot away and added paper texture into the background.

Photo took on digital camera just played about with the contrast,brightness, exposure, hue and saturation. Turned into a great photo. I love the way the bodywork shows up so reflective and shiny.

Experimental Photography

Taking an aspect of the steve mccury work that inspired me I created the follwing images, i firstly took the photgraphs using a standard basic fujifilm digital camera but made sure there was a lot of light and shadow within the subjects. Then later on i imported them into photshop and increased the constrast, shadows and the overall effect of the piece. Then i brought out the coloring in the eyes to make them the focal piece and the central point. I like the effects that i created.





Birmingham Museum And Art Gallery

Yesterday i visited Birmingham museum and art gallery. Here there was numerous pieces that were both temporary and permanent exhibitions but the main reason i went is "steve Mccurry" who is a world renownd american photo journalist. He has won numeous awards for his work especially that of his coverage of the russian invasion of afghanistan.
Although i could not take any photographs of the work on display i found it one of the best displays i have ever witnessed.
All of his work cannot be experienced fully by a quick gaze and like the best pieces of artwork i myself was drawn into the depth and feeling of emotion behind the lens. Many pieces left me exploring for myself what it was like to be there, to be in the same place to imagine how the subjects were feeling and overall left a very deep rooted impact into the life from other cultures and ways of life for many other and mainly less fortunate people.
Although they could be described just as photographs to me they offer much more than that and resemble a time capsule of a moment in time many that the public wouldn't see ordinarily. There was a constrast not just in the different styles of photographs but also in the subject matter as some are very upsetting and sad like the little boy crying dribbling and nose running deeply upset holding a gun to his own head which to me left me not just shocked but angry that no-one could help and started to reflect on the nature of human beings and how evil still persists where it shouldn't and still in this day and age very few global problems are solved. I dont think this would have the same effect with this being a painting as it would be classed as fiction but a photograph there is no denying it. The sentence before being an example of how deep the pieces make you think.

But also on the other hand there is photos of tranquil flowers gently paddling down a river and teh constant persistance and determination of the local people who find a need and worth for everything.






Overall i think this was the best exhibition i have ever been to and it has affected me that much i feel that it has made me reflect on my life and things that i could change to become a better person and here we have so much to live for where in the middle of a war people have so little but still are resiliant and strong minded.
